Welcome to the Third Baithak by MandraSaptak Baithaks and come to celebrate the auspicious festival of Holi on the 15th of March, Manhattan.
MSB USA proudly presents the eminent Sarode maestro Dr.Pandit Ranajit Sengupta, at an afternoon filled with the colors of strings. He will be accompanied by Mallar Goswami on the Tabla.
We are very happy to present two very young musicians, Pranav Shikarpur on the flute and Kushal Sahabir on the Tabla, as an inaugural event, followed by a brief Semi-classical presentation by Sanchari Bhattacharyya, the host.

DR. Pandit RANAJIT SENGUPTA is one of the Best Sarode Players & Music Composers from India having performed in major music festivals & venues in more than 45 countries around the world since last 30 years representing his country.
He is announced as “ The Mozart from India “ & the “ New Ambassador of Indian music to the west “ by the World press & media
He is a student of late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan & Ustad Aashish Khan of Maihar Senia Gharana & attended several workshops by Late Dr. Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in India & California.He is one of the youngest TOP Grade Sarode Player from All India Radio & Television & winner of "Presidents' award for securing First position in All India Radio Competition,Acharya Baba Allauddin Memorial Award,Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee Memorial Award & "Best talent of the Year" award by HMV to name a few.He is a topper in both Graduation & Master's Exam from Rabindra Bharati University,Kolkata & completed his PhD ( Doctorate degree) from the same university. Ranajit is a Guest Lecturer in Universities in USA,Canada,Germany,
Switzerland,England & India.He has performed in Major Music Festivals & Venues in more than 45 Countries including USA,Canada,Switzerland,France,Germany,Italy,Denmark,The Netherlands,Greece,England,Scotland,Estonia,Russia,Africa,United Arab Emirates,Syria & Caribbean Islands to name a few.He has over 50 CD & DVD releases from around the world.Ranajit has composed Music for the Dutch Feature Film "Dark Amsterdam",the Title Music for the International Film Festival,Kolkata,in 1994 & the music for the Road Movie"Lost & Found Tour" filmed about himself & 3 other Austrian Musicians.
Ranajit has been the Principal Composer,guest conductor & GURU for the National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music in England from 2011 to 2015

PRANAV SHIKARPUR
Pranav Shikarpur started learning Hindustani flute(Bansuri) from Late Pt. Venkatesh Godkhindi, when he was 7yrs old and continues to learn from Surmani Pt Pravin Godkhindi for the past 9yrs. He was awarded the Center for Cultural Resources and Training scholarship(CCRT) in 2013 for Hindustani Flute. He stood first place for Youth Instrumental Category in Swarashri Music Competition held yearly in Bengaluru. Pranav is strong believer in music being a universal language and has thus collaborated with musicians and dancers across different genres such as jazz, Carnatic music, Odissi and Bharatanatyam, as well as Bengali folk music.

In addition to his passion for Flute, Pranav has trained in the Hindustani Vocal from Smt. Geetha Hegde and Tabla from Sri Mohan for several years. Pranav graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Maryland and currently works as a developer advocate at a cybersecurity startup.

SANCHARI BHATTACHARYYA
Sanchari is a vocalist in the field of Hindusthani Classical Music, namely Khyal and semi-classical genre. She is currently a disciple of Guru Sri Anjan Majumdar for almost a decade.
However, Sanchari's musical journey started in her childhood with Nazrulgeeti under the tutelage of Late Smt.Chhondita Dutta, followed by short term trainings several other respected Gurus. To name a few, they were Smt.Anasuya Mukhopadhyay, Sri Pratap Roy, Smt.Banani Ghosh and Sri Jayanto Bose. Sanchari learnt Rabindrasangeet under the tutelage of Guru Sri Suranjan Roy for a few years, and performs in parallel.
A scientist in the field of cancer drug discovery, Sanchari has excelled in academia with a doctorate degree and several years of postdoctoral training and is a resident of New York City since two decades.
The musical training took a new turn since she started talim under Guru Sri Anjan Majumdar. Starting at the grassroot level and with the most exceptional teaching method of her renowned Guru, also a music director and composer, Sanchari pursued khyal and thumri gayan, with no looking back. This has been a life-changing experience for a student, as it started quite late in life.
Sanchari received a Sangeet Visharad degree in Nazrulgeeti, Chandigarh, with a distinction in 1998.
After a long gap, with Guru's grace and inspiration, Sanchari has performed in Shadaj, Massachusetts, Karnatic and Hindusthani Music Circle, New Hampshire, in 2022
Guru's Silver Jubilee Celebration in Kolkata, 2023 and on some more local and online platforms. She was an invited lecturer in the Department of Music, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire in 2023.
Apart from her Ryaz, teaching beginners in the USA and scientific profession, she always initiated hosting concerts in her own capacity, to promote Indian Classical Music and support first generation musicians. MandraSaptak Baithaks USA, was founded by her in 2013 and has hosted a few baithaks in the past.

KUSHAL SAHABIR
Kushal is a NYC based tabla player, of the Farukhabad gharana. His learning has largely occurred under Sri Uchhal Banerjee, a disciple  of Pt. Abhijit Banerjee. His main focus is to continue to grow the art of Indian classical music as well as to showcase the versatility of tabla as an instrument across genres. He is also a junior at St. John’s University, studying Actuarial Science.
