WHAT'S NEXT? ... is an autobiographical one-man theatrical experience written and performed by C.L. Rivera—a raw, funny, physical exploration of what happens when the identities a man has spent a lifetime building begin to fall apart.

Against the backdrop of New York City, Rivera takes us through a year of love, heartbreak, illness, survival and reinvention, while memories from more than four decades refuse to stay in the past. Relationships collide with fatherhood. Therapy collides with old survival instincts. ADHD turns memory into a highway with no exits. And beneath it all is something Rivera calls The Monster—the anger, fear and desperate need to hold on that he has carried, in different forms, throughout his life.

Blending storytelling, theater, movement, music and humor, WHAT'S NEXT? moves through East Harlem streets, rooftops, hospital rooms, dance floors, relationships and the private spaces inside one man's head. It's a story about loving hard. Fighting too hard. Being the rock for everyone around you—and discovering what happens when the rock finally cracks.

Rivera doesn't arrive with answers. Instead, he begins removing the labels: father, boyfriend, provider, protector, survivor, actor, the rock, the monster—until what's left is something much simpler.

A man.
Human.
And still asking the question:
What's next?
