ABOUT

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, The Jalopy Theatre & School of Music is New York City’s only all inclusive folk music center, as a venue, school, record label and presenting organization. Jalopy will host major events both in its Red Hook location and with cultural partners across the city and state. Jalopy has built a community around folk music, dance, and songwriting, making space for artists, performers, students, and listeners to engage with each other through these diverse and evolving traditions. Presenting over 230 shows a year, Jalopy supports hundreds of working artists from NYC and nationally. Each week, 300 children and adults come to Jalopy for classes. Each year, 15k patrons attend concerts at the theatre, and over 10k people are reached by Jalopy’s offsite programming across the city and region.
