ABOUT

SULA is a musical project led by Emiliano Roqué, a singer, composer, and percussionist from Córdoba, together with Gabriela Ahumada, a singer from Sonora, Mexico. Born in 2018 in Mexico City, its name comes from the Yaqui language and means 'animal heart,' reflecting vital strength and connection with the ancestral. With roots in Latin American folklore and a contemporary perspective, SULA has participated in important international stages, such as the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival (2021), and has received recognition from singer-songwriter Alex Cuba for its version of Mundo Nuevo (2024). In 2025, the project was consecrated at the Villa María International Folk Festival in Argentina, establishing itself as one of the strongest emerging proposals in the new Latin American song.
