Swiss-born Marco Frey grew up in the South Carolina lowcountry. Although showing a remarkable feel for classical piano, Marco took stick to skin when his friend handed him the orange-hued record Miles Smiles. Smitten by Tony William’s fire, Marco began drum lessons and nourished his passion for jazz. After a summer spent at the Stanford Jazz Workshop Marco moved to Charleston studying under Quentin Baxter and playing with many local greats. In the summer of 2014, Marco decided to take a chance, uprooting to New York City. He currently lives in Brooklyn, teaching drums and making joyful noise in the haunts of his dreams.
