Join The Brooklyn Nomads for a communal exploration of Arabic rhythm through song. This workshop series invites participants to experience the joy of group music-making while connecting with Arabic musical traditions from a rhythmic perspective.

Led by community musician Mohamad Eldebek, these sessions focus on percussion as a gateway into the music—exploring groove, pulse, and collective energy through the songs of Ahmad Kaabour. All levels are welcome—just bring your curiosity and willingness to participate.

Note: Please bring your own percussion instrument if you have (Frame drum, Derbake, Riq..)

In this month’s workshop, we will dive into the repertoire of Ahmad Kaabour (1955–2026), the influential Lebanese singer, songwriter, and composer whose work became deeply associated with politically engaged Arab music, including songs that resonated with the Palestinian struggle and Lebanese resistance. Through his music, we will explore rhythm as both a musical and cultural force.
