Winter. The earth is dark, cold, quiet, still. A season of rest and withdrawal, but also a time when isolation, loneliness, and heaviness can settle in. The energies of the outer world encourage us to slow down, to listen, to feel what stirs within.

Across cultures, winter was the season of storytelling. Communities draw near the fire to kindle the flames of belonging and remember the earliest days, when the patterns and pathways that govern life were established. Stories are still a good way to enrich our vocabulary of winter, to let the soul dream and seed our imagination with the season's possibilities, to shift our lived experience of the dark months.

Join composer Kelli Scarr and mythologist Dr. Catherine Svehla for an online exploration of the opportunities of the winter season. As the sun pauses at its still point and the nights grow long, we’ll consider the role of the dreaming soul in the larger cycle of transformation. Through story, reflection, and shared conversation, we’ll explore the generative space of winter.
