ABOUT
DHROOPAD is a Bengali American cultural organization in the greater Washington DC Metro area formed in 2000 with an objective to promote the rich Bengali cultural heritage, and to foster arts and literature as a force that transcends social, cultural and religious barriers and instigate compassion for humanity. The all volunteer efforts of the DHROOPAD members are attributable to their love for the Bengali culture fostered in Bangladesh and India. The Bengali Language and culture is practiced by 230 million people. DHROOPAD believes in preserving one’s heritage for the tangible and intangible values, and hence, promotes awareness of the rich Bengali culture to its successors who are born/being brought up in the US to be able to take advantage of the best of the both worlds. Dhroopad has been performing mainstream; Smithsonian Institute, Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, The US State Department, George Mason University, various State Festivals since the year 2000. Funds generated through sponsorships, donations and ticketing has been utilized for charitable purposes and the sponsorship of cultural activities.
