ABOUT
Touted as a child prodigy, Kalyan Majumdar is a leading Sitarist of his generation. A recipient of several awards and recognition, he is an empanelled artiste of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Govt. of India. Kalyan regularly performs at prestigious concerts in India as well as abroad. He is also a regular artiste at the All India Radio, Kolkata and Doordarshan. Kalyan is a recipient of the President’s Award and the National Scholarship given by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Born in a musical family, Kalyan started formal training in Sitar from his father Subhajit Majumdar at the tender age of four. He then went on to train under Pt. Soumitra Lahiri and the Sarod maestro Pt. Buddhadev Das Gupta. Currently, Kalyan is a Senior Scholar at ITC Sangeet Research Academy learning under Pt. Partho Chatterjee. Kalyan has recieved awards, accolades and appreciation from several stalwarts in the industry and continues to wow everyone with his skillful and soulful music. He has performed alongside legendary musicians of the Indian Classical as well as Bollywood arena like Hariharan, Dr. L Subramanium, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Utd. Rashid Khan, Papon, Usha Uthup, Shubha Mudgal, Sourendro-Soumyojit, Pt. Abhijit Banerjee, Purbayan Chatterjee, Sahana Bajpaie, Lagnajita and many more. Kalyan is also a Sitar Teacher and Music Composer/Arranger with many students from all over the world training under him.
