ABOUT
Born in a musical family having her parents as her first mentors, Manali received her initial training from Smt. Debjani Basu. Later she took taalim from Pt. Arun Bhaduri as a Senior Scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy. During the golden days of ITC-SRA Manali was lucky enough to enrich her musical treasure under constant monitoring of the maestros like Pt. A.Kanan, Vidushi Girija Devi, Pt. Bud dhadev Dasgupta, Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar to name a few. Her rendition reflects this unique blend of different Gharanas and Gayakis including the Bandishes and distinct stylistic patterns. Besides Khayal she has established a unique Thumri gayaki in the inimitable style of Pt. Dhrubatara Joshi Ji being trained by Joshiji's senior disciple Ustad Golam Emam. A Masters' Degree holder in both English and Vocal Music, Manali is a graded artist of AIR and Doordarshan. AWARDS / SCHOLARSHIP 1st in All India Radio Music Competition in Khayal. 1st in West Bengal State Music Academy Competition in Bhajan. National Scholar under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Received International Scholarship from ALR Fund, Norway. Ex-Scholar of ITC-SRA. CONCERTS / WORKSHOPS ITC Sangeet Sammelans at various cities all over India. West Bengal State Music Academy Annual Classical Conference. International Music Conference, Dhaka. Vishwa Banga Sammelan. Workshop at Dhaka University on “Similarity and Difference between the language of Vocal and Instrumental Music”. Workshop at Chhayanaut, Dhaka on “Emotions in Ragas”. Workshop at Government Music College, Dhaka on “Voice Training”. Workshop at Sachin Deb Barman Govt. Music College, Agartala, Tripura on “Bandishes from different Gharanas”. Presently working on an online archival project “1001 Bandishes of the Great Maestros” curated by SATRANGEE. Pertaining training at Satrangee Sangeet Sansthan as the Founder-Guru.
