Nishaant Singh son of Padmashree Aacharya Kaajee Singh, belongs to the fourth generation Folk musicians family from Kalimpong, Darjeeling. Presently residing at Kolkata working as a Guest Professor at the Ramakrishna Mission, VidyaMandira College, Dept. Of Cultural Affairs, Belur Math, Kolkata. National Awardee 2020-21. Nishaant has become the youngest flex award winner in the field of Fulbright Fellowship and is the first research associate in Pakhawaj to study at the Ali Akbar College of Music, San Rafael, USA under the guidance of the pioneer of Lucknow gharana Padmashree Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. After completing the Academic studies from TNA, Nishaant completed his Bachelor & Master Degree in Music (Subject- Hons. in Tabla & Pakhawaj) from Visva- Bharati University Shantiniketan. Nishaant belongs to the one and only prestigious Lala Keval Kishan Gharana of Bengal Parampara. Nishaant has recieved National Scholarship for the year 2005-2007 under the guidance of Guru Pandit Chanchal Kumar Bhattacharya. He is learning since last 16 years and is the most promising performer of this style. Nishaant is also learning the style of Punjab Gharana from Pandit Gobinda Bose since last 13 Years. Nishaant has been awarded by Gold Medal from the International Dhrupad Mela twice in the year 2009 & 2011. Nishaant has been awarded by International Cervantino Festival, Mexico in the year 2015 and also by International Drums & Cultural Festival , Lamphun, Thailand in the year 2016. Awarded Bharatiya Nepali Sikhar Samman 2017 by the Govt. Of Sikkim. Nishaant has been performing Solo and sangat with String Intruments, Kathak, Dhrupad Vocal & Taal Vaadya kucheri's all over the country and abroad with stalwart Maestro's and also the upcoming young maestro's of Indian Classical Music. Nishaant has also received an opportunity to accompany Pakhawaj with living Legends like Padmashree Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha (Gundecha Brothers), Dagar Brothers, Padmavibhushan Birju Maharaj, Taal Vadya Kutcheri with Pandit Tanmoy Bose, Vidwan V V Ramanamurthy, Vidwan Guru Prasanna, Ustad Aashish Khan Performed in various Programs of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in India and abroad MEXICO at six locations-Guadalajara, Guanajuato, Lyon, Monclova, Durango, Torreon CANADA at three locations-Toronto, Winnipeg, and Sudbury : Invited to perform as an Indian Govt. Cultural Delegate by the most famous Latin American Festival Cervantino 2015 in collaboration with ICCR, Govt.of India.
