I’m very happy to announce that we’ll celebrate the end of our semester with our NYC Tabla Family Day & Student Recital on Saturday, December 13, at Gibney Studio W (280 Broadway, Downtown Manhattan).

This is a special afternoon for our tabla community — a relaxed, low-pressure recital where students of all levels will share their progress, followed by a featured performance and light refreshments.

3:00–3:30 PM – Student Arrival & Setup

3:30–4:00 PM – Guest Arrival & Seating

4:00–5:00 PM – Student Performances

Kid Beginners: Aydhin, Dhruv, Saurabh, Prashanth
Adult Beginners: Julia, Jeremy, Joel, Alif, Anirban, Dharanish, Amit
Intermediate: Navya, Nicole, Alishan, Spiff
Advanced: Arjun (solo) with Spiff Wiegand on harmonium

5:00–5:15 PM – Break & Light Snacks

5:15–5:45 PM – Featured Performance: Santoor by Vinay Desai, accompanied on tabla by Mir Naqibul Islam

5:45–6:00 PM – Closing Remarks, Group Photo

6:00-6:30 – Cleanup

🚗 Arrival & Parking Information

Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before your call time, especially if it’s your first time at Gibney Studio. New visitors may need 5–10 minutes for a one-time check-in process. Parking in the area can be limited. You may consider using the nearby parking garage at:

Street parking may be available if you’re lucky. Public transportation is also convenient, as the studio is close to multiple subway lines.
Important: When entering the building, use the Chambers Street entrance — Google Maps may direct you to Broadway by default.

👕 Dress Code

Everyone is encouraged to wear ethnic attire such as kurta, salwar kameez, sari, or any traditional outfit that reflects your own culture. Casual ethnic wear is perfect — kurta is especially encouraged for comfort and aesthetics.

💛 Community Support

This recital is a community event with no external sponsors. We rely entirely on contributions from our NYC Tabla families. There’s no entry fee for students, but we kindly suggest a $30 contribution per parent or family member to help cover event expenses.

All collected funds will go directly toward venue, logistics, and refreshments — and I’ll personally cover any remaining balance.

👕 NYC Tabla T-Shirts

Every student will receive a free NYC Tabla t-shirt. If your child is a student, their siblings also qualify for a free t-shirt. If you are an adult student, your children also qualify for free t-shirts.
