ABOUT
Anubrata Chatterjee stands among the foremost tabla virtuosos of his generation, seamlessly bridging centuries-old classical traditions with contemporary global soundscapes. As the son and disciple of the legendary tabla maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Anubrata carries forward the rich, intricate legacies of the Farrukhabad and Lucknow gharanas, elevated by a modern aesthetic that captivates both purists and new-age listeners worldwide. A dynamic force on the international stage, Anubrata has spearheaded innovative cross-genre concepts such as Beats & Pieces & Laya-Curry. His rhythmic mastery has made him a trusted collaborator for an extraordinary roster of music legends, including Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Ranjit Barot, and Shankar Mahadevan. He has also crossed musical boundaries to perform with jazz icon Wynton Marsalis at the Lincoln Center Jazz Project, showcasing his versatility across genres. Based in the New York and New Jersey area, Anubrata is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of percussionists as the founder of the MATRA Tabla Conservatory. Whether commanding the traditional concert hall or driving vibrant global fusion projects, Anubrata Chatterjee continues to redefine the boundaries of modern percussion.
