Join Deryn at Race Brook Lodge for the launch of Terrace, a lyric and photographic book by Natalie Deryn Johnson.

Is Terrace a ghost story, a murder mystery, a petite epic poem? Is it narrative or nonlinear, a photo book, art book, a poem or a song?

Originally composed and recorded by Natalie and Rhys Tivey in the summer of 2025, the Terrace song emerged spontaneously from an improvised studio session. Long after the original recording was devised, Natalie resurfaced the music and began creating a lyric book, interweaving the words of the song into visual design with photographs she had made in spring 2024 of Race Brook Lodge’s interiors and surrounding grounds.

"Come hear this mysterious song that moved through my body about a ghost, and hold its artifact in your hands. Slow down in time with us."

We will listen to the recording, read along with the lyrics, and experience the photographs in the very place where they were made. Together, we’ll gather around this peculiar meeting of music, language, image, and place, celebrating both the world of Terrace and the creative life of Race Brook Lodge.

The read-along listening experience will be followed by an artist Q and A, and a live music set by Deryn, featuring Natalie, Rhys Tivey and Joshua Gruft (of Paper Moon, Troy).

Each ticket purchase includes a copy of the book, and exclusive access to the song recording.
