ABOUT
Koustav Roy started his initial training in sarod at the age of 4 under Guru Shri Atanu Chatterjee of the Senia Maihar Gharana. He has also been a disciple of Pandit Debojyoti Bose of the Senia Bangash Gharana for a couple of years.He is currently the youngest senior scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy Kolkata under Guru Shri Abir Hossain of the Senia Sahajahanpur Gharana. Koustav has played sarod in many prestigious platforms like the Malhar Festival,The Arpan Festival, organised by ITC-Sangeet Research Academy also the Academy's Mini Sangeet Sammelan at Chandannagar,... had performed in the gigantic stage - Guru Jnan Prakash Sanctum, Shrutinandan. Played in Sarod Trio program on the ITC Sangeet Sammelan at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata. Moreover he has also performed in the events organised by The Dhwani Academy of Percussion and Music, The Rajya Sangeet Academy and many more. He has secured the First Position in numerous competitions like The Sangeet Piyasi Musical Compitition,The Murari Smriti Sangeet Sammelani, Sarvabharatiya Sangeet o Sanskriti Parishad,Pracheen Kala Kendra Chandigarh, Sutanuti Parishad, The All India Railway Cultural Competition and many more. He has also stood 2nd in The Doverlane Musical competition this year. He has also stood 1st in the Kal Utsav organised by the NCERT and the Central Ministry of culture and education,govt of India. He has been a junior scholar at the Central Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) since 2020 in Sarod. He has also received The Telegraph School Awards for consecutive three years for Excellence in Music. He has also received the Prestigious Anirban Sinha Award for outstanding talent in Indian Classical Music (Sarod) powered by The Telegraph Education Society. Koustav is currently in class XI-Science in the DAV Public School Kolkata. He scored 91% in the CBSE class X Board Examinations 2023.
