SOURAV GANGULY Born in July 1990, Sourav Gangly hails from a family of Musicians. His Father Shree Debabrata Ganguly is a Tabla Player and his Sister Smt. Debarati Ganguly is a Classical Singer who inspired him to move on to the Music world. His preliminary training in Sitar began in 1997 under Shri Tapash Chatterjee in Maihar Gharana. In 2005, he joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy and got the opportunity to learn under Sarod maestro Padma Bhushan Pandit Buddhadeb Das Gupta in Senia Shahjahanpur Gharana. In 2007 as a Junior Scholar of this institution, he got the opportunity to learn under Sitar Exponent Pandit Manilal Nag in Vishnupur Gharana. As a senior scholar in this institution, he got the amenities to learn under the watchful guidance of Pandit Partha Chatterjee in Maihar Gharana. Achievements and Scholarships : “A” Grade Past Scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy. “B” Grade artist of All India Radio, Kolkata (2016). National Scholarship from Ministry of Culture, Government of India in Instrumental Classical Music (Sitar) in 2010. Placed in State Music Academy (West Bengal) competition (Sitar) in 2010. Qualified as Semi-finalist in “Naad Bhed” Competition Organized by “Spic Macay” in the year 2013. In 2004, selected (as a child artist) by All India Radio, Kolkata and perform twice in live concerts. Floor Musician of Zee Bangla SaReGaMaPa 2020, 2021. Performances : Participated in many conferences in India and abroad, e.g. Bengal-ITC SRA Sammelan at Bangladesh Dhaka, 1st India international shravan festival at ICCR In Delhi, Karnataka Sangha Mumbai, ITC Sangeet Research Academy Sammelan Kolkata, All India Radio Kolkata, Golpark Ramakrishna Mission Kolkata, Rhythm Club, Neempith Ramakrishna Mission, Basirhat Sangeet Sammelan, 100 Years Birth Celebration of Pandit Timir Baran Bhattacharya at Rabindra Sadan Kolkata, Trisaptak festival Kolkata, Bagnan Book Fair, Panitrash Sarat Mela, Sanskrita Sahitya Samaj Howrah, Deoghar Ramakrishna Mission, etc. Participated in many classical fusion & Events e.g. ICICI event in Mumbai with Purbayan Chatterjee & Rakesh Chourasia, Played at “GAN MELA” Kolkata with Fusion band “FLAME”, Event in Hayat, with Mastcalanders Event at Jalpaiguri, Accompanied with Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty in light music concert. Played for different types of light music recordings, e.g. Dance, Different Rhythmic Fusion, Songs of different languages, and various musical projects. Recorded on a famous Nagma apps called Lahera Studio. Performed in different TV Channels viz. Devine Raga Talk & performance show in Channel One, Aaj Sokaler Amontrone in Tara Music, Performance show in 24 Ghanta, Channel Vision, High News. Act as a sitar Player in a Tollywood Movie Name “Abhiman. Activities : Worked as a Content Developer on Music for Schools With Knowlarity Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Company for more than 2 years.
