ABOUT
Ishita Sarkhel is a student of Sitar. Born and brought up in a musical family, she learned Indian Classical Vocal Music from her mother Smt Sangita Sarkhel and later from Dr Tapasi Ghosh. She is now a disciple of her father Prof Sabyasachi Sarkhel and has been receiving taleem from the Imdadkhani Gharana of Sitar. She secured 3rd place in a 'Sitar Keshari' - a Sitar Competition organised in remembrance of Shri Gokul Nag, Sitar Exponent of Vishnupur Gharana in 2020. Ishita stood 1st in the Chetla Murari Smriti Competition in Instrumental Music and received the Best Competitor Award, in 2021. She also got the CCRT National Scholarship for Young Artists from Govt of India in 2022. She has completed BSc in Chemistry from Burdwan University and MA in Instrimental Music from Rabindra Bharati University. She also got Junior Research Fellowship in Music from University Grants Commission, Ministry of Education, Govt of India.
